How to play Trix Complex
Every penalty live at once — Trix compressed into two contracts a kingdom.
Also known as كومبلكس
Trix Complex is a faster, denser Trix for four players. Instead of calling the four avoidance contracts one after another, they are fused into a single Complex round where the King of Hearts, all four Queens, all thirteen Diamonds and all thirteen Collections tricks are scored together.
That leaves two contracts per kingdom — Complex, then Trix — so a full four-kingdom match is eight contracts instead of twenty. It is the shorter game, but every trick is dangerous on several fronts at once.
Finish the four kingdoms with the highest total, surviving the combined-penalty Complex round and racing to go out first in Trix.
How to play Trix Complex
- 1Know standard Trix first
Complex uses the same deck, the same deal and the same point values as standard Trix. What changes is how the contracts are grouped.
- 2Play the Complex round
One round settles everything at once: the King of Hearts, the Queens, the Diamonds and the Collections tricks are all live and all scored together.
- 3Play the Trix contract
The kingdom’s second and last contract is Trix, played exactly as in the standard game — shed every card, and finishing order pays 200, 150, 100 and 50.
- 4Rotate the crown
Two contracts complete a kingdom, and four kingdoms complete the match — eight contracts in all. ScoresDeck scores the whole Complex round from one entry.
Scoring
One round, every penalty
The Complex round uses the same values as standard Trix and applies them simultaneously: King of Hearts −75, each Queen −25, each Diamond −15, each Collections trick −10. A single bad trick can cost you on more than one count, which is the whole point of the variant.
Doubling works as it does in standard Trix and applies to the King and the Queens within the Complex round — the eater pays double, the doubler collects the face value for feeding it away.
Trix, and winning the match
Trix is the kingdom’s other contract and the only one that pays: 200, 150, 100 and 50 by finishing order, no doubling.
Scores accumulate across all eight contracts and the highest total wins. Partners combine their scores, with the same optional mercy rule as standard Trix.
Variants ScoresDeck supports
The four-player solo game — four kingdoms, two contracts each.
